Call-out 2012!

Everyone and their mother may hold call-out meetings for their clubs, but the difference between Women in Business’ call-out meeting and all the others is that WIB did not serve food. Yes, without a gimmick or bribery, the turnout for the August 28, 2012 meeting was impressive. A group of well-dressed and poised young women stood in front of a classroom filled with hundreds of amazed faces; the confidence they exude and the passion they have for the club is obvious. Some of them say it’s how they got their internship or full-time job offer. Others admit the Tuesday night meetings are where they met their best friends and mentors.  Most importantly, every WIB member can remember the day she went to the call-out, who she spoke to, and how in one moment, she knew this was the club for her. The application process is thorough but worth every second because “with heels as high as our standards,” WIB will make you into the business professional you desire to become.

And yes, we do serve food at other events.

If you’re interested in joining the largest all-female organization in Kelley, visit our website to download an application. All applications are due by Friday, August 31, 2012 at 7:00pm. Good luck!

WIB's First Annual Director's Retreat

Brooke Bedel, Jamie Barrar,
and Samantha Russey catch up
with each other.
On Sunday, August 26th, WIB directors and vice presidents met to discuss goals for the upcoming year and to catch up on everyone's adventures from the summer.  Representatives from networking, finance, membership, outreach, and communications branch were present.  Although this was the first time having a director's retreat for WIB, the annual club-wide retreat, which is usually held in the end of September, is always a huge success.  Activities and games help break the ice between new and old members, and really breaks down barriers between different committees.

Rebecca Ambrose, a sophomore and director for Conference this year, shared, "the director's retreat was a nice way to jump back into WIB.  It was casual and fun, and now I'm ready for mass meetings to start!" Today, Tuesday, August 28th, is Women in Business's first mass meeting, where the planning will begin for all vice presidents, directors, and associates in their committees.

WIB directors and vice presidents discuss
strategies to better the club this year.
